The performance takes place on the lawn outside the Tang. Bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, and your own food and drink to make it a night! Kids can get craft kits from Tang Art Educators at every concert starting at 5:30. 2060Oobleck is a high-octane, five-piece funk band that’s been playing around the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, and Vermont since 2008. They play grungy original horn funk inspired by the after-dark variety of New Orleans street music. It’s a melee of horns, super heavy drums and bass, and your favorite type of chunky guitar riffing that leaves your bum shaking and your face grinning. Highly improvised, kinetic, effect-soaked horns create textural soundscapes with razor sharp horn lines. The vibe is high-energy and dance-focused. “Sometimes they pump out the stone-cold soul-funk of the JBs. Sometimes they veer into the Afro-funk of Fela Kuti. And sometimes…they head off into Frank Zappa’s Grand Wazoo territory” (Nippertown).About Upbeat on the RoofUpbeat on the Roof is the Tang Museum’s a free, outdoor summer concert series on the grounds of the museum. Blending a soulful, contemporary edge with deep-rooted traditional style, her songwriting pushes the boundaries of the banjo and explores the intimate complexities of being human. As a performer, Carolyn uses her music as a tool for connection, education, and inspiration. She brings a joyous vulnerability to the stage, leaving audiences feeling genuinely restored. Though originally on the path to law school, Carolyn’s trajectory changed the moment she picked up a banjo at Skidmore College. She found her voice while working at Caffè Lena, honing her craft at their weekly open mics before emerging as a standout in the folk scene. Since then, she has released two EPs and was named Folk Artist of the Year for the New York Capital Region in both 2022 and 2026. The three-piece, genre-bending combo is made up of singer/songwriter Natalie Santini, guitarist Andy Arnold, and bassist Ian Dingman. The band was founded by Natalie and Andy who, after having met in early 2019, decided to team up to work on melding Natalie’s devotion to powerfully agile singing, and honest, mature songwriting with Andy’s love for raw-yet-refined guitar playing. Little Saints draws on influences from artists like Brandi Carlile, Stevie Wonder, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, along with peers in their musical community, to craft a sound that blends Americana, indie folk, and modern soul.About Upbeat on the RoofUpbeat on the Roof is the Tang Museum’s a free, outdoor summer concert series on the grounds of the museum. The band was started by Dom (vox, keys, synths, trumpet) and Chad (vox, synths, bass), completed by Harrison (drums, vox) and Eric (guitar, vox), and held together with dried mango and NA beer. Nice Hockey sounds like The Beths went on a John K. Samson bender and emerged holding a keytar. Their songs are charming and big-hearted. The extraordinary and the mundane collide to tell stories about bike rides with your friends, chameleonic vibes, and how to survive the impossible. They play in living rooms and on porches, at Elks clubs and farmers markets, for toddlers and for you. Nice Hockey hopes you wanna be friends.About Upbeat on the RoofUpbeat on the Roof is the Tang Museum’s a free, outdoor summer concert series on the grounds of the museum.
