"The Invention of Judaism: Torah and Jewish Identity"
A lecture by John J. Collins, Holmes
Professor of Old Testament Criticism and Interpretation at Yale University.
Professor Collins is author of The Invention of Judaism: Torah and Jewish
Identity from Deuteronomy to Paul (University of California Press, 2017),
which looks at the diversity of ancient forms of Judaism and considers how
Jewish identity is constructed.
The lecture is co-sponsored by
the Office of the Dean of Special Programs and the Religious Studies Department. Funding
is provided by endowments established by Jacob Perlow and by Beatrice Troupin.
Admission is free and open to the public.
