Skidmore College will host a daylong program commemorating Solomon Northup, an African-American man who was abducted into slavery in 1841 and remained in captivity for 12 years. His memoir, Twelve Years a Slave, was made into a major motion picture in 2013 that won three Oscars, including best picture. The day’s program will include discussions on slavery in the U.S. and other topics related to Northup’s life, musical performances, readings, and more.
This event is FREE and Open to the Public.
