York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA)
The
NYSSSA School of Orchestral Studies is sponsored and supported by the New York State
Education Department and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
The School
of Orchestral Studies is the final school hosted by Skidmore College.
Students are
selected from statewide auditions reside and study at Skidmore College under
the Artistic Direction of Dr. Bruce Kiesling. Students study with members
of the Philadelphia Orchestra during their summer residency at SPAC while
studying a repertoire which parallels that of the Orchestra. Small
coaching sessions with the Philadelphia artists provide students with the
opportunity to learn technique and rehearsal skills through the shared
repertory.
