Hindu Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe, symbolizing the power of the divine feminine to dismantle evil and oppression. She manifests in the form of consciousness, knowledge, compassion, fear, anger, beauty, power, and prosperity. Durga is remembered yearly during an autumnal festival called Sharada Navaratri–each day celebrates one of Durga’s nine forms. Skidmore faculty and renowned sitarist Veena Chandra is joined by Odissi dancer Guru Sanchita Bhattacharya, santoor player Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, and tabla artist Devesh Chandra for a virtuosic performance honoring the Mother Goddess in all her forms.
This live, in-person, indoor performance is open to the public. Seating is first come, first served and doors open 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. For the latest protocols regarding COVID-19, please go to https://www.skidmore.edu/campus-planning/index.php.
