"Above Street Level" Performance

Through collaboration and bringing forth the struggles of our respective communities-- Asian (Sri Lankan Tamil), Indigenous (Blackfoot and Cherokee) and West Indian (Grand Caymanian)-- YaliniDream & Jendog Lonewolf demonstrate a politic of pluralism and solidarity through creative practice(s).  They take the audience through heart-touching, thought-provoking stories, poems and rhymes that, delicately and unapologetically, intersect class, race, gender, and sexuality.  Their aesthetic, which blends Hip Hop, theater, spoken word poetry, dance, and song, emerges from the energies of multiple Diasporas in collision.

They travel through the stories, navigating community homophobia, the legacy of war, inter-generational traumas, violence within communities, and survival.  The work takes underground aesthetics and stories that are often marginalized or closeted and brings them Above Street Level.

Brooklyn DreamWolf is the lyrically stout, Brooklyn-born, Hip Hop MC Jendog Lonewolf and the award-winning Performing Artist/Poet YaliniDream.  Merging forces and rooted in ending the full continuum of violence and exploitation from the intimate to the global and from the home/street to the state, DreamWolf invokes a masterful collision of Hip Hop, poetry, theater & dance in their collaborative work, Above Street Level-- bringing their stories of Love, Light, Struggle and Movement to the surface.  They have performed internationally in Africa, Asia, and North America, shared stages with icons like Harry Belafonte, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, Rah Digga, and Joan Baez, and have performed at elite institutions such as Stanford, Syracuse, Oberlin, New York University, University of Michigan, and more.  In addition, they are teaching artists, working with elementary, middle, and high school youth in Brooklyn, NY.

The performance venue is wheelchair accessible. Please contact osdp@skidmore.edu if you have questions about accessibility.
