Pi Mu Epsilon, The National Honorary Mathematics Society, is a non-secret honor society whose purpose is the promotion and recognition of scholarly activity in the mathematical sciences. Pi Mu Epsilon was founded at Syracuse University on May 25, 1914. There are over 300 Chapters in North America. Individuals are elected to membership in Pi Mu Epsilon by the Chapters in accordance with National guidelines. Since Pi Mu Epsilonis an honorary society, membership is reserved for those who have excelled inmathematics, as well as in their total academic program.
