2018 Raab Lecture will be Virginia Scotchie, Wednesday, October 17, 6PM, Payne Room, Tang Teaching Museum.

Virginia Scotchie’s ceramic objects manifest her ongoing investigation of manmade and natural objects.  She states:  It is my intention that through the borrowing and reformation of objects, the work might trigger one to look closer and find beauty and intrigue in the humble, ordinary, and familiar objects that surround us.  She exhibits her work extensively throughout the United States and abroad, and has been an Artist-in-Residence in Italy, Australia, the Netherlands, and Taiwan.  She is a Professor of Ceramic Art at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, and is represented by Hodges Taylor Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina, and by Blue Spiral One Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina.
