Join us outdoors Friday, September 8, at 8 pm, for the annual Tang/SEC fall concert. The band Melt, whose sound combines soul and psychedelia, existential pop songs, and ethereal jam, will perform a free show outside the Tang on the lawn on the northwest side of the museum. Cooking Class, featuring two Skidmore alumni, will open.

The show is presented by Skidmore College Student Entertainment Council (SEC) in collaboration with the Tang. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be held at Falstaff’s. This event is free and open to the public.

Melt is a New York City-based band that formed in 2017. With a sound that continuously pulls from new realms, Melt holds at its core a shared love of soul and psychedelia, existential pop songs and ethereal jam sections, and a deep love for each other. Melt initially made a name for itself with its first single “Sour Candy” that reached No. 5 on Billboard’s US Viral 50 Chart when the band’s members were 18 years old. The band released its first EP “West Side Highway” in 2021: a bold project inspired by an eclectic mix of artists from Diana Ross to Wilco, The Grateful Dead to Maggie Rogers. As Melt continues to grow and reach new heights, they want you to help them create love, build community, and work toward an ever-evolving vision of the future. Join the band on tour this fall and get ready to melt.

Cooking Class is a genre-bending band from New York City. Created in a Skidmore college dorm room by Sam Horn ’18 (vocals and guitar) and Ami Morrison ’23 (bass and production), Cooking Class was brought to life after recruiting childhood friends Adrian Antrobus (guitar) and Jack Mitchell (drums). The band has been selling out shows throughout the Northeast, releasing projects, and cultivating a dedicated fanbase. With new music on the horizon, Cooking Class is excited to share what they would describe as “their best work yet.”
