As President Trump concludes his thirteen-day tour of East Asia, join us for a panel discussion of East Asia’s changing place in the global order. The discussion will be introduced by brief presentations from four Asian Studies professors:

• Mahesh Shankar (International Affairs) will discuss the US role in East Asia

• Xiaoshuo Hou (Sociology) will explore nationalism, globalism, and a rising China

• Jenny Huangfu Day (History) will reflect on anti-corruption campaigns in Xi’s China

• Joowon Park (Anthropology) will present on Trump’s war of words with North Korea

These introductory remarks will be followed by a moderated discussion between all four professors and audience members on these topics and others.

Refreshments will be provided.
