Jason Ross (Class of 2020) is a Music Major/Arts Administration Minor at Skidmore College. He has studied jazz guitar with George Muscatello and has been involved with Skidmore’s Small Jazz Ensemble since his freshman year; participating as both a band member and an employee under John Nazarenko.
Picking up the guitar at the age of 8, Jason was a student at the Manhattan and Tenafly School of Rock locations for 10 years. As a student, Jason got the chance to play a wide array of venues and festivals that included Lollapalooza, MoPop, and Gathering of the Vibes.
Since coming to Skidmore, Jason has been able to extend his talents to various Skidmore events and ensembles such as Beatlemore, WSPN Presents, and the JKB Blackbox Theatre after-party. When not participating in the Skidmore music department, he plays guitar in Skidmore’s 12-piece funk group Funkin’ Donuts and is the frontman, guitarist, and principal songwriter for Moon Sand Land.
As he looks towards graduation, Jason plans to continue playing music, focusing on building Moon Sand Land along with expanding his creative horizons. He is very excited to cap off his music major at Skidmore with his senior recital.
