Rebecca Merber (violin) is a Physics major and Music minor, and holds both the Filene Music Fellowship and the Porter-Wachenheim Scholarship in Science and Mathematics. She is a student of Michael Emery. She grew up in New York City and graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School with an Instrumental major.

Rebecca has appeared as a soloist with the Skidmore String Ensemble and was a winner of the Skidmore Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2023. She has also been a member of the Skidmore Orchestra since Fall 2023, where she appeared as concertmaster in Fall 2024 and 2025, and will for the upcoming concert in April. In addition, Rebecca has participated in chamber music at Skidmore, including collaborations with the Miró Quartet, the Attacca Quartet, Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect, and the American String Quartet.

Outside of Skidmore, Rebecca has served as a substitute for the Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra, performing at Zankel Music Hall at Skidmore and Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady, NY. She has attended Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Colchester, VT, and Varna International Music Festival in Italy. She also studied abroad in Milan, Italy, where she performed with the Milano Classica Orchestra. Other performances have included major venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Rose Hall at Lincoln Center, and the Barclays Center. Rebecca plans to continue pursuing music after graduation.
