Speaker, Melissa Dore, Starbuck 203 Conference Room
Founded in 1964, the Oceanographic Center (OC) graduate
students gain classroom, laboratory, and field knowledge to become the next
generation of marine researchers, managers, and conservationists. Our faculty’s
fields include coral reef ecology and geology; shark and billfish biology and
conservation; fish physiology, genetics, and ecology; molecular biology;
microbiology; biodiversity; and physical oceanography.
Part of Nova Southeastern University (NSU), the OC campus
is 20 minutes away from the main campus. The 7th largest private university in
the country, this allows our students to have access to a large university’s
services while maintaining a small 200-strong student community. Our courses
are offered in the evenings to allow students to work while completing our
degree programs.
Located on a 10-acre campus on Port Everglades and the
Atlantic Ocean, the OC offers MS degrees in Marine Biology, Coastal Zone
Management (CZM), Marine Environmental Sciences, and Biological Sciences in
addition to the Ph.D. in Oceanography and Marine Biology. Traditional and
condensed courses are held in the evenings at the OC or available online. Many
courses and the MS in CZM program are available online. The MS capstone track
is default and can be completed in two years. There is an optional thesis track
upon approval.
Students only, RSVP encouraged but not required
