Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect returns to Skidmore to perform Jennifer
Higdon’s Dark Wood, an ode to the bassoon; the unusual
instrumentation of Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat
Major, K. 452; Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet; and the world premiere
of a newly commissioned work by composer and violinist Michi Wiancko, 7 Kinships.
Ensemble Connect is a
two-year fellowship program for extraordinary professional classical musicians
residing in the US that prepares them for careers combining musical excellence
with teaching, community engagement, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and
leadership. It offers top-quality performance opportunities, intensive
professional development, and partnerships throughout the fellowship with New
York City public schools.
