Join us for a celebration of our fall exhibitions. Ree Morton: The Plant That Heals May Also Poison surveys the short but prolific career of artist Ree Morton (1936–1977), who attended Skidmore in the 1950s. Beauty and Bite features artists from the Tang collection whose work examines questions of identity—particularly race, gender, and sexuality—and explores the underlying mythologies and histories that inform contemporary society. Serious Sparkle addresses how contemporary artists use glitter to explore issues around the construction and representation of femininity, queer identity, and the body. And Elevator Music 39: Bug features the digital application Bug, allowing visitors to investigate synesthesia, a phenomenon in which one sense creates an involuntary experience with another sense.
Before the reception there will be a talk by curator Kate Kraczon at 4:00 pm. Both events are free and open to the public.
