Historian and author Allan M. Winkler will give a talk on singer Pete Seeger at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Davis Auditorium, Palamountain Hall.

Titled “To Everything There is a Season: Pete Seeger and the Power of Song,” the talk is based on Winkler’s 2009 book by the same name. Using Seeger's long life and music to reflect on the important role folk music played in various protest movements of the 20th century, the author describes how Seeger applied his musical talents to improve conditions for the less fortunate.

Admission is free and open to the public. The event is co-sponsored by the departments of American studies, History, and Music.
