Join us Monday, June 8 @ 11am-1pm in Falstaff’s (Skidmore College campus) for a hands-on cyanotype workshop with artist Jillian Marie Browning. This workshop offers participants a unique opportunity to learn this historic, alternative photographic printing process, which produces sun-exposed, distinct, monochromatic blue images of physical objects and photo negatives onto natural fibers and paper.
Jillian Marie Browning (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of feminism, identity, and the contemporary Black experience. Their work has been exhibited nationally and is included in permanent collections, including those of the Center for Photography at Woodstock and The Southeast Museum of Photography. They currently serve as Assistant Professor of Photography at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The workshop will be followed by an optional lunch in Skidmore Dining Hall for all interested participants as well as an extended open work time from 2-4pm to continue work on cyanotype projects.
